Mission

Feeding your baby can be challenging. Our mission is to help mums feed their babies in all ways. With specialist knowledge and experience helping those to reach their individual feeding goals, whatever they may be, in an unbiased, evidenced based and caring environment. We draw upon our experience as chiropractors to understand how the body works, and as lactation consultants, giving a rare insight into your concerns.

Equality and Diversity

Throughout this website we refer to ‘mother’ being the breastfeeding parent. We do not wish to isolate those who do not identify as female or as a mother and therefore and therefore acknowledge that this term also refers to chest feeding and parent or care giver of the baby or child involved.

FAQs

What is a lactation consultant?

A lactation consultant is a trained healthcare professional who specialises in breastfeeding and lactation. They provide expert advice and support to new mothers (and their families) to help with breastfeeding challenges, ensuring both mother and baby are comfortable and successful in their breastfeeding journey.

What qualifications do lactation consultants have in the UK?

Lactation consultants in the UK typically have certifications such as the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) qualification. This certification is internationally recognised and requires extensive training, exams, and experience in breastfeeding support and lactation management.

How can a lactation consultant help me?

A lactation consultant can:

  • Assess and improve your baby's latch and positioning.

  • Offer advice on increasing milk supply and managing engorgement.

  • Provide solutions for pain or discomfort during breastfeeding.

  • Support with breastfeeding after birth complications, such as a caesarean or low birth weight.

  • Help with managing breastfeeding in cases of multiple births or preterm babies.

  • Offer guidance on pumping, storing milk, and introducing solids when the time comes.

Can a lactation consultant help with bottle-feeding or combination feeding?

Yes! Lactation consultants can support all feeding methods, not just exclusive breastfeeding. If you are bottle-feeding or doing combination feeding (breastfeeding and formula), they can help you navigate these options to ensure the best nutrition and care for your baby.

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal disorders, primarily those involving the spine. Chiropractors use hands-on techniques, like spinal adjustments, to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and promote overall well-being.

What qualifications should a chiropractor have to treat babies?

In the UK, chiropractors must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and have completed accredited training in chiropractic care. For babies, it is important to seek a chiropractor who has additional training or specialisation in pediatric chiropractic care, often earned through postgraduate courses in pediatric health or chiropractic paediatrics.

Is chiropractic care safe for children & babies?

Yes, chiropractic care is safe for children when performed by a qualified and experienced chiropractor. Paediatric chiropractors are specifically trained to work with children, using gentle, age-appropriate techniques to support their health and development.
